Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur – Match Preview and Betting Tip

Betting Tips | Article posted on October 16th, 2013

Tottenham will feel that they must get back to winning ways in this fixture, having fallen a little behind the top four with defeat in their last Premier League fixture before the international break. However, a trip to Villa Park is far from an easy assignment to return from with three points, and Villa may also be boosted by the return of Belgian talisman Christian Benteke. These are two potentially very entertaining teams to watch, and this could be an excellent match if the two teams are on their game, particularly in Benteke plays from the off. It will be interesting to see how two of the Premier League’s higher rated forwards, Benteke and Soldado, compare with one another.

Winner

The bookmakers consider this a very close game to call, but make Spurs the slight favourites. This would seem to be a reasonable assessment, but I’m going to disagree with the bookmakers on this occasion. I feel that if Villa have Benteke back that they’re more than a match for any side at home, and I fancy them to see off a Spurs team that is still having teething problems attempting to fit so many new signings into a coherent eleven. Thus, my tip for this market is for Villa to win.

Correct Score

Tottenham have played in a lot of low scoring games this season, but Villa aren’t the best at the back, so I can see both teams scoring in this one. I’m going to tip the final score to be Aston Villa 2 – 1 Tottenham Hotspur. Best odds available for this scoreline are 13/1 with BetVictor.

Under / Over 2.5 Goals

The over 2.5 goals bet can be had at 19/20 with Bet365.

Winning Margin

A one goal win for Villa can be backed at odds of 5/1 with BetVictor.

First Goalscorer

Both teams are capable of opening the scoring, and Spurs have been pretty good at doing this on their travels so far this term. Thus, I’m going to tip the away side to score first through Roberto Soldado, the Spaniard available at 11/2 with Bet365.
