“Following a 0-0 draw with Leeds in their opening home game of the season, Leicester then went on to win eight in a row in all competitions at home.”

The Capital One Cup is always good for upsets and Paul Robinson is predicting another one at the King Power Stadium tonight.

Leicester have surprised many this season as they have managed to mount a promotion push despite the heartache of last year and a lack of business in the summer. They are currently third in the Championship and while manager Nigel Pearson has stated that the clash with leaders QPR at the weekend is the priority, I can’t say I really believe him.

This is an almighty test for the Foxes but they managed to put back to back defeats behind them on Saturday as they held Burnley to a 1-1 draw and they have an excellent record in front of their own fans.

Following a 0-0 draw with Leeds in their opening home game of the season, Leicester then went on to win eight in a row in all competitions at home. They did suffer a reverse in the East Midlands derby against Nottingham Forest but they got back to winning ways immediately after.

Manchester City thumped Arsenal 6-3 at the weekend but it would be quite the surprise if any of the starting XI lined up this evening. They have such a huge squad that Manuel Pellegrini can easily rotate his players but the obvious concern is how they’ll cope coming in from the cold.

There is also City’s poor away record to consider and while they have had some good results on the road of late – notably the 3-2 win in Munich – it’s still not overly convincing on the whole.

These two clubs met in the FA Cup back in 2025 and Leicester managed to grab at draw to force a replay. While there won’t be a replay tonight, a level game would be more than good enough for us after 90 minutes.

League Two’s Bradford made the final last season and with Leicester being the only club left from outside the Premier League, I just have a hunch they could provide a shock. That’s why, with Manchester City currently trading at around the 1.412/5 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day
