Lay Under 2.5 goals in Malaga v Villarreal @ 1.758/11
There’s one game in Spain this evening and Paul Robinson thinks there will be at least three goals as Malaga take on Villarreal, live on Sky Sports Xtra at 21:00 BST.
Malaga finished sixth in La Liga last season and also made it through to the last eight of the Champions League. That was under Manuel Pellegrini though and after his departure, as well as financial issues, the club haven’t been able to recapture that success in this campaign. Three wins in their last five matches have at least eased their relegation fears however, and a top 10 finish is well within their grasp.
It’s the goal-side of things we’re focusing on today though and recent results suggest we’ll be in for plenty. Their last four outings have all ended with three goals or more and that includes a 4-1 success over Granada in their last game at La Rosaleda. It is also worth noting that they haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last half dozen in front of their own fans.
Villarreal were challenging for the final remaining Champions League place a couple of months ago but a run of inconsistent results has seen them drop down to seventh. A Europa League spot is a realistic target though and victory in their game in hand tonight would see them move above Real Sociedad into sixth.
As far as the goals go, 16 of their 33 this term have gone over 2.5, to give their matches an average of 2.73 goals per 90 minutes. Marcelino García Toral’s men have had six of their last 10 on the road go over 2.5 and that includes a 4-2 defeat and a 5-2 victory.
The stats marginally favour over 2.5 in this one so with under 2.5 trading at around the 1.758/11 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
