Ancelotti could be Next Real Madrid Coach
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Real Madrid have made an approach to their current coach Carlo Ancelotti to take over at the Santiago Bernabeu next season. The move confirms one of the worst kept secrets in football; Jose Mourinho’s time in Spain is drawing to a close.
This is hardly ideal preparation for Real’s forthcoming Copa del Rey final engagement. But it has been clear from the last few weeks that there are rifts within the Real camp that mean extricating themselves from their manager is the only sensible course of action.
With central defender Pepe having publicly criticised Mourinho over his decision to drop Iker Casillas, which resulted in him being left out of the Real team that drew with Espanyol, the allies that Mourinho enjoys within the Real dressing-room look increasingly sparse in number.
While the Portugese may complain about the way the press has treated him in Spain, and took of moving somewhere where he is loved, the reality is that his own behaviour during his time at Madrid has been divisive and lacking in tact and diplomacy. While Real Madrid is a highly complicated and politicised club to manage at the best of times, it is never wise to contribute to this yourself.
