Arsenal Set to Reclaim Champions League Spot

Premier League | Article posted on April 4th, 2025

Despite having had a tempestuous season at times this term, Arsenal look ready to reclaim a top four slot with only a handful of games remaining this campaign. There are several factors that work in their favour.

Firstly, their own team has put together a good run of league wins of late, with the Gunners looking very impressive in their 4-1 demolition of Reading at the weekend, which in truth could have been a lot more emphatic.

Secondly, Arsenal have several players due to return in the next couple of weeks, most notably Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott. Adding arguably their two best players to a side that is playing excellent football will be a real filip for Arsene Wenger.

Thirdly, Chelsea have a terrible backlog of fixtures from now to the end of the season, with the Blues having already started a sequence of four matches in seven days by losing to Southampton.

Fourthly, the Gunners themselves have an excellent run in to the end of season. They only have the Premier League to worry about, and only have one of the league’s really top teams still to face. But when they play Manchester United at the Emirates, United will already have been crowned champions in all probability, so the Gunners can feel very positive about their run in. If they manage to win their away fixture at West Brom, and then home matches against Norwich and Everton in their next three games, then they will be very well placed indeed.

Finally, Tottenham’s next three games are Everton, Chelsea away and Manchester City at home. You couldn’t ask for a much tougher run, and Spurs are highly likely to drop points. If they do, then the Gunners are in the driving seat to finish in the top four, and may yet even claim third place.
