After the tonic of walloping their neighbours and rivals Manchester United in their previous fixture, Manchester City will be looking to continue the revitalisation of their Premier League title challenge by improving their away form at Aston Villa. Hitherto, the champions of two seasons ago have struggled on their travels, and are still looking for their first away win in the Premier League this season.

Villa have made an acceptable start to the season, but the loss of Christian Benteke, who was injured in their previous fixture, is sure to hit Villa’s hopes hard, as the Belgian has become a huge part of the Villa line-up.

Winner

City are strong odds on favourites to win this one, as is usually the case for most of their fixtures. However, their away form hasn’t exactly inspired confidence so far this season, and Villa have picked up some good wins at Villa Park over the least year or so.

However, I think the key element to this fixture will be the omission from the Villa line-up of Benteke through injury. The Belgian really does dominate opposition sides up front for the Villa, and I expect them to be a shadow of themselves without him. Thus, I have to back City to pick up their first away win of the season here. Best odds available are 8/15 with Bet365.

Correct Score

Villa may very well lack a cutting edge without one of the Premier League’s best strikers, and I do fear for their ability to score when up against arguably the best central defence in the Premier League, if not Europe. Thus, I think we’ll see a City win and clean sheet here. My money is on City to win by two goals to nil, best odds available are 8/1 with BetVictor.

Under / Over 2.5 Goals

The under 2.5 goals option for this particular fixture can be backed at odds of 5/4 with BetVictor.

Winning Margin

A two goal winning margin for Manchester City can be backed at odds of 19/5 with BetVictor.

First Goalscorer

There are many possible first goalscorers on the Manchester City team, and this market is always complicated by the fact that it is hard to say exactly whom will start up front in particular. I think a good option for away games for City, though, is Yaya Toure. The Ivorian was monumental against Manchester United, and has an excellent away scoring record for City. Toure can be backed at 7/1 to open the scoring with Stan James.
