Aston Villa v Manchester United – Match Preview and Betting Tips
Introduction
Manchester United picked up a much needed win in mid-week in the Champions League, but the pressure on David Moyes is far from relieved with United in a position in the Premier League to which they are completely unaccustomed. For the defending Premier League champions to be ninth after this number of games is completely uncharted territory, and if they don’t start picking up wins immediately they can kiss their already slim hopes of retaining their Premier League title goodbye.
Winner
This is an absolutely massive game for the away side in particular. United cannot afford any more defeats with the pressure already building on David Moyes, and it may actually do them some good to be away from Old Trafford, where they have lost two consecutive home games in front of a nervous home crowd. This could be another difficult afternoon for United if they don’t get off to a good start, but they do have an excellent record at Villa Park, and I fancy them to win.
My tip: Manchester United win
Best odds: 4/6 with Bet365
Correct Score
Manchester United haven’t exactly been prolific in front of goal so far this season, but I can see them scoring a couple here with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie back in the team together. Villa will probably nick one as well in my eyes, so I’m going for a 2-1 away win.
My tip: Aston Villa 1 – 2 Manchester United
Best odds: 8/1 with BetVictor
Under / Over 2.5 Goals
My tip: Over 2.5 goals
Best odds: 9/10 with Paddy Power
Winning Margin
My tip: Manchester United to win by 1 goal
Best odds: 14/5 with BetVictor
First Goalscorer
Robin van Persie hasn’t really got his season going yet, but there is no doubting his class, and he actually played well in the 1-0 defeat against Newcastle, so I will tip him to score first here.
My tip: Robin van Persie
Best odds: 4/1 with Coral
