Bayern and Borussia Neck and Neck in Bundesliga Battle
With a couple of weeks of the new Bundesliga season having elapsed, the established order is already dominating the league table, with the apex of the division already populated by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
But this doesn’t tell the whole story of the season so far. Bayern only narrowly won by a single goal last time out, and their performance was so insipid that Dutch winger Arjen Robben was moved to state that the fitness levels of the Bayern squad were less than adequate, as quoted by goal.
Meanwhile, Dortmund laboured to a 2-1 home victory over 2-1 victory over the unfashionable Eintracht Braunschweig, with the winning goals being scored deep into the game. Nonetheless, there is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp is building a powerful squad again in Dortmund, as Henrikh Mkhitaryan made his debut, and the likes of Marco Reus and Neven Subotic sat on the bench for their first home game of the season.
On the evidence of the season so far, it could be a tighter title race in Germany than many were predicting.
