Bayern Complete Gotze Deal and are Confident of Landing Lewandowski
Mario Gotze had indicated in the last few weeks that he was keen to stay in Germany at the end of this season. What he forgot to mention was that he meant with Bayern Munich. The immensely talented midfield schemer has already agreed a deal with Bayern that will see him move to the Allianz Arena during the summer.
This is a big blow to Dortmund on the verge of their Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid. Of course, there is no suggestion that Gotze will make less effort or be less determined to win, but it’s hardly the sort of news that is likely to galvanise Die Schwarzgelben before such a challenging match.
In addition, it is already being reported that Bayern are confident of completing a second huge deal by signing Robert Lewandowski from Dortmund as well. This would be a huge blow, not only to Dortmund’s hopes, but also the Bundesliga itself. To have arguably Dortmund’s two best players join their biggest rival, and the team that ran away with the Bundesliga this season, is a bit of a disaster for the competitiveness of the competition, failing some rather miraculous signings for Dortmund.
Nonetheless, the job that Pep Guardiola is walking into looks to get easier every day…
