Benitez Showing Pedigree in Naples
Having endured an acrimonious, but ultimately rather successful, period in charge of Chelsea, Rafa Benitez has once again showed during his embryonic career in Naples that he is an extremely capable coach who’s teams are almost always competitive. Napoli have begun the season in extremely convincing fashion, and currently top the table over their obvious title rivals, Juventus, on goal difference.
While there are probably few at Stamford Bridge who would openly have their former manager back, the irony will not be lost on Benitez that his replacement, Jose Mourinho, is not having it all his own way in his early days in the Chelsea hotseat.
Meanwhile, it will be fascinating to see how Napoli fare this week as they travel to England to face Arsenal. It will be an intriguing trip for Napoli’s Spanish manager, and a fascinating match up between the early pace setters in the English and Italian leagues.
