First up from Portugal is action from the Estadio de Restelo in Lisbon as Belenenses play host to Academica.
After promotion last year Belenenses were always going to face a fight to stay in the division, it’s a fight they are currently winning but only just. Sitting in fourteenth position they are one place and two points above the relegation zone.
If they are to survive then Belenenses will need to find a more reliable source of goals, they have only managed to find the net eleven times all season, the lowest in the league and have failed to register in eight of their last nine.
At home however they have been hard to beat largely down to their tough defence and the impressive performances of English keeper Matt Jones. Most of their points have been earned at the Restelo and they haven’t suffered a defeat in front of their own fans in six games.
Academica sit comfortably in tenth but a string of poor results recently suggests they too could be pulled into a relegation fight. Sergio Conceicao’s team share the same problem as their opposition on Saturday, goals are in short supply, it’s only twelve all season for them.
‘The Students’ from Coimbra have struggled on their travels, they have been shut out in their last three on the road and have only actually managed three goals all season away from their own patch, that record has them in danger of slipping further down the table.
Considering the lack of firepower on show in this game don’t expect it to be a goal fest, both teams are averaging way below two goals in their games so the unders markets seem the most attractive.
