Bundesliga Without Bayern and Dortmund Betting Preview
Such is the dominance in the Bundesliga of the two massive clubs that reached last season’s Champions League final, one of the most interesting betting markets in this season’s Bundesliga is which team would finish top of the tree were Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich to be omitted from this season’s competition come the end of the season.
With Bayern heavily odds on to win the Bundesliga, and Dortmund apparently their only realistic challenger, there are much more favourable betting odds available in this market. The favourites by some distance, though, are Bayer Leverkusen, who can be had at odds of 2/1 to finish above all of the Bundesliga’s other clubs this season. Leverkusen have already impressed the bookmakers by winning their opening fixture, and their challenge will be built on a strong midfield which includes the highly-rated Lars Bender, and the goals of Stefan Kießling.
However, my tip for this market is Schalke 04. They have one of the most bankable strikers in the league in Klaas Jan Huntelaar, and have already shown in their opening fixture that they’re well capable of scoring goals this term. Should you wish to back Schalke for this market, Paddy Power are offering odds of 9/4.
