Cross-Sport Multiple: Back Everton to beat Arsenal
“Everton have won five in a row and have only lost of their last 38 matches at Goodison Park.”
Andrew Hughes thinks Everton can continue their run of form against Arsenal on Sunday and help to land a cross-sport multiple in the process.
Bet 1: Back Everton to beat Arsenal at 2.45n/a
The last time Arsenal came to Merseyside, they were top of the league. A crushing defeat at Anfield was the start of a form recession that shows no sign of ending. They are down to fourth in the Premier League and have won one of their last five.
Clinging on to a top four finish is now the limit of Arsenal’s ambition but they are being chased hard by Everton and I fancy the Toffees to close the gap on Sunday.
They’ve only beaten Arsenal once in their last fifteen league meetings, but they are on a roll at the moment. Everton have won five in a row and have only lost of their last 38 matches at Goodison Park. Back the home side for the win.
Bet 2: Back India to beat Sri Lanka at 1.625/8
An entertaining World Twenty20 comes to an end on Sunday with a meeting between two of the world’s strongest limited overs sides.
Sri Lanka have done well to reach the final despite some uncertainty over their best line-up and the self-imposed absence of captain Dinesh Chandimal. But they have struggled at times, most notably in losing to a poor England side in the Group stages and I think India will be too strong for them.
The Indians are undefeated in this tournament, and have been going about their business with rare efficiency, chasing down a stiff total in the semi-final against South Africa with five balls to spare. They bat deep and few batsmen have been able to score freely against their battery of spin bowlers. Back India to lift the trophy.
Bet 3: Back Toulon to beat Leinster at 1.538/15
Sunday’s Heineken Cup quarter final is a clash between the last two teams to win this trophy, and I think the holders Toulon will prevail.
Leinster are in strong form going into this game, having surged to the top of the Pro12 with ten consecutive wins and they have one of the best squads in European rugby.
But their record in France is only moderate. They’ve won eight of their twenty-two games on French soil, and they are up against a side with a formidable home record. Toulon have lost only one out of fourteen games at the Stade Felix Mayol this season and have never lost at home in the Heineken Cup. Back the home side to win.
