There is no doubt that this particular tie is the highlight of this weekend's FA Cup fixtures. This North London derby between two historical rivals is a match that both Spurs and Arsenal fans and neutrals alike will be looking forward to.

Historically, these are two of the most successful teams in the FA Cup. Arsenal have won the competition the second most times, triumphing at Wembley on ten occasions, while Tottenham are next in the list with eight. It is nearly ten years since Arsenal won it, and over twenty since Tottenham were able to place the FA Cup in their trophy cabinet, though, and the difficulty of this match for both sides means that both are outside of the top four favourites for the competition this season.

Arsenal go into the game having negotiated a very difficult March programme in the Premier Leauge with their position on top of the table still intact. While Tottenham have recently appointed a new manager in Tim Sherwood, and picked up some excellent results since then, most notably beating Manchester United at Old Trafford on New Year’s Day.

Form, home advantage and recent results would all suggest that Arsenal must be the favourites for this match. The Gunners have consistently finished ahead of Spurs in the Premier League, look set to do so again this term, and have beaten Tottenham the last three times the teams have met at the Emirates. They beat Spurs 1-0 in the Premier League this season, and walloped them 5-2 twice during their previous two visits.

This game may conceivably mean more to Spurs than Arsenal, and the Gunners are suffering from a mini-crisis at the moment. However, Arsenal’s record against Tottenham and confidence from being top of the Premier League still points to an Arsenal win. This is a difficult scoreline to predict, but I'm going to tip Arsenal to win by two goals, as I'm not sure Tottenham are capable of shutting up shop.
