Daily Dynamo Selection – Estudiantes v Newell’s Old Boys
With European based teams and players occupied with international football this week, we have the opportunity to take a rare look at the Argentinian league for Monday's Daily Dynamo Selection.
With home ground advantage, Estudiantes are strong favourites to keep up their good start to the season. The La Plata based club are currently fifth in the Argentinian standings, and can go top with a win here. By contrast, Newell's Old Boys have made a rather ordinary start to the season, and are currently beneath mid-way in the division. This comes as something of a surprise, as the club based in Santa Fe had a highly successful season last term, finishing second in the Torneo Inicial and winning the Torneo Final. With pretty much the same squad as last season, Afredo Berti's team was expected to do well, but they have failed to live up to those expectations thus far.
Newell's Old Boys haven't become a bad team overnight, though, and the fact that they finished some 18 points ahead of Estudiantes in the Toreno Final last season suggests that they are the superior team. Thus, I feel the odds being offered on an Estudiantes victory are rather slim, and I would recommend looking elsewhere for a value bet for this match.
Newell's Old Boys have already drawn two games this season, and I'm going to tip this one to be a draw as well. This would seem to offer good odds, as does the over 2.5 bet in the low scoring Argentine league.
Selections: Safe Bet –Over 2.5 goals (9/5 with BetVictor), Value Bet – Draw (2/1 with BetVictor)
