Daily Dynamo Selection – Hibernian v Hearts
The novel of Trainspotting included some material about this derby match, and its author Irvine Welsh will no doubt be delighted that in the absence of the Old Firm game, this is currently the biggest derby in Scotland.
However, this elevation of circumstance cannot disguise the fact that these are two extremely moderate teams, who are little more than also-rans in the Scottish Premier League. Of the two, though, Hibs are having the much better time, currently occupying a safe mid-table position, while Hearts are floundering at the bottom of the table, having won just three games this season and lost twelve, and eight of their last ten fixtures ending in defeat for the Jam Tarts. Hibs did at least win their last Premier League fixture against Ross County to break an eight game streak without a win.
Thus, we cannot really expect a particularly high-quality encounter here, which has made me look at the under 2.5 goals market straight away. Hearts have scored only 13 goals this season, but ironically the bottom club in the SPL have actually scored more than Hibs, who have netted only 12. With only 28 goals in their 18 SPL matches this season, it can't have been overly entertaining to watch them this season.
So my Dynamo Daily Selection for this fixture is for the under 2.5 goals bet.
