Daily Dynamo Selections – Atletico Bilbao v Real Madrid
This La Liga season is turning out to be an absolute classic, with three teams very much in contention to win the title with over half of the season completed. Just one point separates Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, and thus the pressure will be on Real here to pick up another three points to keep up with their two great rivals.
Bilbao have had a pretty good run of results this season as well, though, and currently look favourites to secure the fourth Champions League slot in La Liga. Bilbao struggled last term after a breakthrough season in 2025-12 in which they defeated Manchester United in the Europa League, but the quality in their ranks has shone through this season. Young players such as Iker Munain have shown their capabilities and this will be a far from easy game for Real.
Bilbao are also particularly ruthless on their home turf, having won nine and drawn two of their eleven La Liga games thus far this season. Even Real themselves have not gone unbeaten at home, so this will be an extremely tough match. On the other hand, Real are in the middle of an incredible run of form, and with a 2-0 win in their last La Liga fixture, broke a club record by winning seven consecutive league games without conceding a goal.
Thus, not only do Real have a phenomenal attack, but arguably also Spain's best defence, so Bilbao will really have their work cut out to keep up their unbeaten home record. I don't think they will manage to do it, I think the away side are looking ominously good, and my Daily Dynamo Selection is for them to pick up another win here.
