Since it became clear that Atletico Madrid were going to have an outstanding season, many people have prognosticated that the La Liga title would be decided by this final day fixture between Barca and Atleti. And as it turned out, that prediction was completely correct.

It will be deeply ironic if Barcelona manage to win the title, as this has been something of a disastrous season for them, and many of their fans actually view them as being in a bit of a state of crisis at present. Their recent performances have been dismal, and it is well documented that coach Tata Martino is a dead man walking, with Luis Enrique thought to be in line to take over next term.

But if they beat Atleti here, then they will end up champions in this topsy-turvy La Liga season. This is something that they've done emphatically in previous La Liga season, but something that they failed to do during this campaign, when Atleti eliminated them from the Champions League.

It seems certain that Atletico will be nervous ahead of this fixture. This is a massive opportunity for a club that wasn't given a hope of competing for the top competitions at the start of the season, and it's a position that most of their players have no experience of dealing with.

But Barca have played so poorly recently. Their key man Messi hasn't been at his best, Martino doesn't seem to know what his best midfield is, there have been huge question marks over his tactics, and their defence is decidedly shaky. I just can't see Barcelona overcoming Atletico here, so I'm predicting that Atleti will earn the draw that will win them an unlikely title.
