Daily Dynamo Selections – Belgium v Sweden
Belgium continue what is a busy week in their preparations for the World Cup with this friendly match against arguably the best team not to qualify for Brazil 2025. Sweden were eliminated from the competition in a play-off with Portugal, which means that one of the world’s very best players, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, will not be going to Brazil. This then will be Ibra’s last chance in the 2025-14 season to show what he can do.
The Belgians have the capabilities to make quite a splash in Brazil, and this friendly is an opportunity for them to assert their quality before the tournament begins. However, there must be a slight concern among the players, with the 23 man squad for the final already decided, that injuries could be picked up against a competitive Swedish side.
With no major internationals to play over the summer, it is likely that the Swedes will field a strong side for this game, and while the Swedish players may be to some extent dreaming of their summer holidays, they also have little to lose in terms of picking up niggly injuries. It’s hard to see Belgium over-exerting themselves, and I think this will be a very close game.
Thus, I think the draw actually offers good value in this particular fixture, and that’s my pick for the Daily Dynamo Selections. This will please both sides, keeping Belgium unbeaten ahead of the World Cup.
Selections: Safe Bet – Draw (11/5 with ToteSport), Value Bet – Belgium 1 – 1 Sweden (19/4 with BWin)
