Daily Dynamo Selections – Chelsea v Atletico Madrid
Chelsea come into this game against Atletico Madrid on the back of a massive result against Liverpool, and with the knowledge that they have come out on top in big games time and time again this season.
Having seen of the Reds at Anfield, Chelsea have a quite incredible record against the top seven in the Premier League this season. They have beaten Liverpool home and away, beaten Man City home and away, thrashed Arsenal at home and drew at the Emirates, beat Man Utd at home and drew away, beat Tottenham at home and drew away, and beat Everton at home, but lost to them away. That's played 12, won 8, drawn 3, lost 1, scored 21, conceded 4.
Pretty impressive. And they performed a defensive masterclass against Atletico in the first-leg last week. The Spanish club have been in excellent form, so this was no mean feat, but the Blues seem to be able to raise their game when facing tough opponents, and actually cope with this better than more meagre opponents. Chelsea probably won't win the Premier League because they've lost against Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Stoke and Newcastle. If they'd won one of those five matches they'd be top now.
But I do think they'll have a Champions League final to look forward to because I think they'll keep yet another clean sheet here and nick a far from pretty, but invaluable, 1-0 win.
Selections: Safe Bet – Under 2.5 goals (11/20), Value Bet – Chelsea 1 – 0 Atletico Madrid (11/2 with William Hill)
