Daily Dynamo Selections – Inter Milan v Napoli
Napoli have already all but confirmed their participation in next season's Champions League, but they can book their place mathematically by beating Inter in the San Siro. Inter will achieve European qualification, but they need a series of events so unlikely as to be bordering on impossible to occur in order for them to play in Europe's premier club competition next season.
Rafa Benitez's first season as Napoli manager has gone reasonably well, even if he probably would have had higher expectations than a respectable league finish and no trophies. The away side here have nevertheless established themselves as a strong Serie A team, and if they can hang on to their star players and make a couple of signings then they may launch a credible title challenge next term.
Their excellent away form this season, winning nine on the road, means that they have a pretty good shot of picking up three points here. Inter have struggled at the San Siro, winning as many games away from home as they have on their home turf, and their confidence has almost visibly dwindled as the campaign has unfolded. Their goal difference is only six worse than Napoli, yet they have twelve less points, indicating that Inter haven' t won enough close games this season; the trademark of a quality team.
This should be another tight one between two of Serie A's better sides, and I think Napoli will nick a point to inch closer to next season's Champions League.
