Daily Dynamo Selections – Inter Milan v Udinese
After losing at home to Atalanta in their last Serie A fixture, Inter's hopes of Champions League football look to be increasingly forlorn. With two consecutive home games, fans of the club that won the Champions League not that long ago under Jose Mourinho were hoping that six points would at least close the gap on third placed Napoli to possibly five points. With Inter currently eleven behind the Nepalese club, surely their Champions League hopes are over for another year.
However, Inter will still be keen to pick up three points here, just in case Napoli self-destruct in the remaining weeks. Udinese ought to be a team that Inter would expect to beat, given their relatively lowly status, although they're having a reasonable run in Serie A of late, having won 4, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their last 8 fixtures. This is in fact exactly the same run of form that Inter have enjoyed, so the home side perhaps can't be considered overwhelming favourites for this game.
Both of these sides are well capable of scoring goals, which makes me think straight away that the over 2.5 goals bet is a solid one. In terms of how the final score turns out, this will be dependent on whether Inter can overcome their lack of confidence and recent travails and play close to their potential. I think they'll have enough to beat Udinese narrowly.
Selections: Safe bet – Over 2.5 goals (39/40), Value Bet – Inter to win by 1 goal (13/5 with Ladbrokes)
