Daily Dynamo Selections – Nantes v Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain have been the favourites to win the French league title since the beginning of the season, and with two-thirds of the Ligue 1 programme completed, they are top of the table and stronger favourites than ever. Thus, they will be strongly backed to win when they travel to Nantes over the weekend, a match that they will want to win having missed an opportunity to open up a seven point gap at the top over Monaco in their previous fixture.
The disparity in class between the two sides can be seen in one particular statistic – goals scored. It is an oddity that the French league has been a pretty low scoring one this season, and that is reflected in Nantes' performance, with their comfortable mid-table position having been achieved with only 24 goals in 23 games. By contrast, PSG are by far the most powerful forward thinking side in the division, and they have scored more than double the tally achieved by their opponents, netting 54 times already this season.
Given the quality that PSG have in their side, and now with Yohann Cabaye added to the ranks as well, one would expect them to be unbackable favourites to win this one. But perhaps their recent slip up against Lille has contributed to the bookies making them strong odds on favourites, but not completely unbackably short in odds terms.
Thus, I have to go for a PSG win for my safe Daily Dynamo Selection, as I can't see Nantes troubling them.
Selection: Safe Bet – PSG to win (3/5 with BetVictor), Value Bet – PSG to win by 2 goals (7/2 with Paddy Power)
