Daily Dynamo Selections – Olympique Lyonnais v RC Lens
This Coup de France match is a critical fixture in the season of the once dominant Lyon. The days of them controlling the French league and winning it season after season are over, and this particular Lyon instead has to focus on qualifying for European competition and having a decent cup run.
Thus, this match against Ligue 2 Lens obviously offers a good opportunity for the home side to progress, and they are strong odds on favourites to do so. Lyon's season has been far from what would be expected, but the curve of their form would definitely be upwards. The home side are in the middle of a very useful run in which they've won eight of nine games in all competitions, and will be looking to add to that here.
Lens are a more than decent side, and there is every chance that this fixture will be a Ligue 1 match-up come next season. Thus, this shouldn't be a walkover for Lyon, but it is one that they will be expected to win, and I think they will do so.
The home side are not backable at the odds offered, so it's a good idea to look elsewhere for market value. Lyon have leaked more goals than any side in the top 9 of Ligue 1, while scoring the third most in the division, and Lens have also scored and leaked a fair few as well.
