Daily Dynamo Selections – Real Sociedad v Elche
Monday night football in La Liga sees Real Socieded host Elche, as the home side continue their quest for European football. The Txuri-urdin don't have much hope in the foreseeable future of repeating their double title win of the 2025s, but recent seasons have been pretty good for them, with a trip to Old Trafford in the Champions League a particular highlight of this season.
In accordance with this, Sociedad have been in decent form in the last few weeks, winning three and drawing one of their last six fixtures as they've established themselves in sixth place in La Liga, just within the Europa League qualification places. By contrast, the much smaller Elche face a long battle against relegation this term, and have won only once in their last six fixtures.
Elche have struggled for goals all season, averaging less than one per match in La Liga, only one more than the lowest scorers in the division. Generally they are a pretty solid side, and have conceded less goals than Sociedad, but this obviously implies that the sixth-placed club are rather more prolific up front. This is very much the case with Sociedad having scored twice the number of goals that Elche have in La Liga thanks to the goals of reputed Chelsea target Antoine Griezmann.
It seems highly likely to me that Griezmann and co will be too good for an Elche team bereft of confidence, so my first Daily Dynamo Selections for this week are both backing Sociedad to pick up three more useful points.
Selections: Safe Bet – Real Socieded to win (11/20 with BetVictor), Value Bet – Real Socieded 2 – 1 Elche (8/1 with BetVictor)
