Daily Dynamo Selections – Roma v Udinese
Roma's hopes of securing their first Serie A title in more than a decade look to have all but disappeared, but the club from Italy's capital still need to pick up points in order to secure a Champions League berth for next season. Thus, three points from this home fixture with a mediocre Udinese side will be considered of paramount importance.
Nonetheless, the form guide for the two sides is actually pretty similar going into this game, indicating the extent to which the Rome-based side's form has tailed off as the season has unwound. Roma were the early pacesetters in Serie A, yet their lack of goals compared to leaders Juventus has ultimately cost them a realistic shot at winning the title. Even if Roma win both of their games in hand, which seems far from certain at the moment, they will be eleven points behind Juve.
Udinese meanwhile have pulled away from the dropzone with a series of excellent performances. Beating no less than AC Milan last time out, they now look destined to avoid relegation, and have achieved this with a defensive solidity that has seen them rack up four clean sheets in their last six fixtures.
Given that Roma enjoys by far the best defensive record in the division, and one of the best in Europe, it seems likely that this will be a low scoring encounter. So my first Daily Dynamo Selection for this fixture is for the under 2.5 goals bet, and I can see Roma sneaking a narrow victory.
