Daily Dynamo Selections – Sunderland v Everton
Sunderland simply must start winning soon if they are to stay in the Premier League come next season. The Black Cats are marooned at the bottom of the table, and although they have some games in hand time is running out for them. This fixture is one in which both sides will be hugely motivated, as Everton have ever chance now of claiming a Champions League place ahead of Arsenal.
The away side then naturally go into this game as favourites. Recent results have been pretty terrible for Sunderland, and their surrender at the hands of Tottenham does not exactly inspire confidence. Although the appointment of Gus Poyet has improved the performances of the Black Cats, they are not scoring enough goals, and the defeat at White Hart Lane gave indication that they're starting to leak them in a rather spineless fashion as well.
By contrast, Everton very much impressed against Arsenal, playing fantastic football throughout and comfortably seeing off their rivals for a Champions League place. A win here would put them in pole position, with Arsenal not playing in the Premier League again until next week due to the FA Cup semi-final.
All of the evidence points to an Everton win here, and I can't bet against the Toffees. Roberto Martinez has his side very well organised and playing some good stuff, and Sunderland have looked bereft of confidence of late. Thus, I'm tipping an away win here.
Selections: Safe Bet – Everton win (5/6 with Ladbrokes), Value Bet – Everton to win by 1 goal (11/4 with Ladbrokes)
