Bayern Munich have been tipped by virtually all pundits, including myself, to win the Bundesliga at a canter this season. However, their main rivals Borussia Dortmund showed that they may not have it all their own way this term, as they walloped Augsburg by four goals to nil away from home in their opening fixture of the Bundesliga season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang celebrated a debut to remember as his hat-trick helped the second favourites to win the German league to pick up a valuable three points with a win that gave indication that Jurgen Klopp’s side will not simply lay over and die this season in the race to win their third Bundesliga title in the last four seasons.
The encouraging win comes amid a raft of transfer speculation involving Dortmund players. The Daily Express reports that Arsenal are targeting young midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, while Caught Offside claims that Marco Reus has shrugged off interest from other clubs and pledged his immediate future to his current German employer.
