England Get Ready for Brazil
All English football supporters are currently relieved that they didn’t have to cope with a repeat of the infamous scenes of 2025, as England cruised past Poland to confirm their place in the World Cup in Brazil with a confident performance.
Now the drama over which 23 English footballers get on the plane in June begins. With manager Roy Hodgson having shown a fondness for a blend of youth and experience, certain players have the opportunity to establish themselves between now and the tournament proper, while the places of some of the more experienced figures are far from certain.
Particularly on the wings, Hodgson has a lot of selection decisions to make over the next few months. There are numerous candidates for a squad place with Andros Townsend, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck, Ashley Young, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Aaron Lennon, Adam Johnson, Raheemm Sterling, Wilfried Zaha and Ravel Morrison all possible selections. The rest of the Premier League season will be intriguing, as players battle it out for a plane ticket to Rio.
