Everton v Liverpool – Match Preview and Betting Tips
Introduction
One of England’s big derby matches takes place this weekend, as Liverpool and Everton engage in a lunchtime kick-off. After Everton’s excellent season last term, which saw them finish ahead of their Merseyside rivals, the Reds have made a strong start to this season which makes them strong favourites to be the top team in Liverpool this term. However, Everton have made an encouraging beginning to life under Roberto Martinez as well, and will be out to scupper a potential Liverpool title challenge.
Winner
Liverpool are very marginal favourites to win this one, which shows how far they have come under Brendan Rodgers in a short period of time. The forward line of Sturridge and Suarez has made the Reds a force to be reckoned with, and though they are generally not rated as having much of a chance of winning the league, their chances of securing a top four place seem pretty credible. However, Everton have a decent record against Liverpool, are a good side themselves, and have a huge amount of motivation in this fixture. I think the draw being the outside bet offers good value.
My tip: Portugal win

Correct Score
Both of these sides are probably better coming forward than defending, and this has been an open fixture in recent seasons. I’m going to tip a repeat of last season’s four goal thriller.
My tip: Everton 2 – 2 Liverpool

Under / Over 2.5 Goals
My tip: Over 2.5 goals

First Goalscorer
Luis Suarez has been in a rich vein of form of late, and despite the fact that he has been away on international duty, I would find it hard to back against the Uruguayan in this market.
My tip: Luis Suarez
