Everton v Tottenham Hotspur – Match Preview and Betting Tips
Introduction
Two teams that have European ambitions and that have made similarly strong starts to the season meet here at Goodison Park. Tottenham have hopes of claiming a Champions League place for the first time in a few season, while Everton would probably settle for a Europa League place. Both are under the tutelage of foreign coaches, with Andre Villas-Boas yet to quite convince the Tottenham faithful of his worth in his second season at the club, while Roberto Martinez has made an extremely strong start to the biggest job in his managerial career so far.
Winner
This should be an entertaining and hard fought game between two teams that like to pass the ball. Tottenham haven’t been involved in too many classics so far this term, though, having been extremely stingy at the back, and with a relatively cautious approach up front. In a way this match will be a conflict between which team can impose their particular style on the game, with Everton under Martinez playing a more open game. The bookies make Everton slight favourites, but I actually think Spurs are tough to play against and will nick a narrow away win.
My tip: Tottenham win
Best odds: 2/1 with BetVictor
Correct Score
Probably the most common scoreline so far in this season’s Premier Leaugue has been Tottenham winning by one goal to nil with a Soldado penalty. So I’m going for another single goal victory here.
My tip: Everton 0 – 1 Tottenham Hotspur
Best odds: 10/1 with Bet365
Under / Over 2.5 Goals
My tip: Under 2.5 goals
Best odds: 17/20 with BetVictor
Winning Margin
My tip: Tottenham to win by 1 goal
Best odds: 4/1 with BetVictor
First Goalscorer
As mentioned previously, Roberto Soldado has been a frequent match winner for Spurs this season, and Tottenham are set up in many ways to provide chances for the Spaniard. But another prominent player this season has been Gylfi Sigurdsson, and he is my tip for this market.
My tip: WGylfi Sigurdsson
Best odds: 11/1 with William Hill
