Has Balotelli Finally Matured?
The stormy career of Mario Balotelli can never be considered to have entirely settled upon calm waters, at least until there is a significant period of time without turbulence. But the gifted Italian forward has begun life in an AC Milan shirt in such a convincing fashion that one begins to wonder if we are finally going to see the best of Balotelli for a concerted period of time.
The Italian striker once again proved decisive in Milan’s win over Chievo, setting up the winning goal for Montolivio, and generally giving an immensely accomplished and, more importantly, passionate and committed display. For a player who has been frequently accused of giving somewhat less than his all, it is this tangible effort put in that will be most encouraging, and perhaps surprising for his many detractors.
As well as contributing greatly to the Milan side in recent games, Balotelli has also rattled in seven goals in just six games. His form has been instrumental in Milan’s rise to the verge of second in the table, and the Rossoneri can look forward with optimism for the first time in quite a while.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini stated that he had regretted allowing Balotelli to leave the club. Many in England wondered why, given the fact that the Italian had been a constant headache. His early form in Italy gives some indication as to why Mancini felt mournful about his exit.
