Italy v Uruguay – Confederations Cup Preview
Italy and Uruguay how one last fixture to fulfill in this year’s Confederation Cup, that in all likelihood both teams would rather do without. Perhaps third place in a World Cup is worth achieving to a certain extent, although the third place team is rarely remembered, but I think it’s fair to say that third place in the Confederations Cup is confined to the memory hole almost immediately.
Nonetheless, neither side will particularly want to lose this game, having been defeated in the semi-finals by their respective opponents. Uruguay will probably be the more disappointed of the two, having lost to their arch rivals Brazil very narrowly, and missed a penalty into the bargain. Italy gave about as good a account of themselves as could be expected against Spain, and will feel that their team is generally moving in the right direction, particularly as they were forced to do without their star striker Mario Balotelli against the Spanish.
The much vaunted Uruguayan front line of Suarez, Cavani and Forlan has not really fired in this tournament, and based on his displays in the Confederations Cup, the amount of money that Napoli are demanding for Cavani would appear to be scandalous. If Uruguay are to avoid a second consecutive defeat then their star forward line will have to produce more against Italy than they have against some of their other opponents during the tournament.

Betting Prediction
Italy’s superior experience will probably see them winning this particularly phony war. While Uruguay have an outstanding forward line, I don’t think they will be able to match the Italians in the middle of the park, where Italy were particularly impressive in their semi-final against Spain. So my money is on Italy to come through this one narrowly, I predict it will be 2-1 win for Italy in this one.
Final Scoreline Prediction:Italy 2 – 1 Uruguay
Other Recommended Bets: Italy to win Over 2.5 Goals, Both Teams to Score.
