Juventus End of Season Review
Juventus comfortably retained their Serie A title, rarely looking as if this season would result in anything other than their second consecutive top flight triumph. This Juve effort was built, as so many strong Italian teams are, on a rock solid defence, which conceded just 25 goals during the Serie A season, and gave a textbook example of how to deal with direct play during a Champions League match at Celtic Park.
That said, Juventus’ rather emphatic exit at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League will not have pleased their supporters, and ultimately the hierarchy of the club. While the reaction to it was fairly acquiescent, Juve’s target for next season will be to improve their European form, while also holding off a likely keen challenge from Milan in Serie A.
The former of these goals will be hard to achieve as those involved with the higher echelons of the Juventus institution have already conceded that the days of the club being able to compete with the tops clubs in Europe financially are a thing of the past. Nonetheless, Juventus have been linked with some top targets from the Premier League, which they will need to bring in if they are to make a serious assault on the Champions League next season.
