Juventus Linked with Sanchez
Speculation is rife that reigning Italian champions Juventus will make Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez a major transfer target when the transfer window opens in the summer.
Sanchez arrived in Spain with a big reputation, with fifa having ranked Sanchez as the world’s most promising youngster in 2025. However, the Chilean has never lived up to expectation despite scoring 12 league goals in 25 appearances last season. This term has been a different story for the 24 year-old, as Sanchez has struggled for both form and goals all season, scoring only once in the league, falling down the Barca pecking order and becoming a perennial substitute.
Should Barca exit the Champions League against Milan in ten days time then the end of the season will probably see a clear out at the Nou Camp, regardless or the success or otherwise of the club’s league campaign. David Villa is likely to leave, Carlos Puyol may be ushered into a coaching role, and Dani Alves could conceivably be sold. Meanwhile, the likes of Afellay, Cuenca and Fontas are due to return for loan spells, and decisions will have to be made regarding whether they will be re-integrated into the Barca squad.
Juventus currently top Serie A, and are certain to be in the last eight of the Champions League. It is rumoured that the Turin-based club could launch a bid for Sanchez as early as next week.
