Juventus Result a Reality Check
Juventus supporters, and perhaps even the majority of Italian football supporters, had high hopes for Juventus in this season’s Champions League, after a strong start to this season. Italian clubs once ruled the roost in Europe, but nowadays are offering very little, in Europe’s premier competition at least, to the extent that Serie A has slid to fourth in the UEFA co-efficients listings.
However, things went far from according to plan for the Turin-based club on Champions League matchday 1. Their trip to Copenhagen would have been viewed as one which would inevitably produce three points, but in fact the Italian champions fell behind, and were only able to salvage a 1-1 draw.
This was a far from satisfactory outcome for Juve, who had looked so strong thus far this season. Carlos Tevez drew a blank on his Champions League bow for the club, and there is a lot more for the Italian side to do if they are to convince neutrals that they are serious Champions League contenders.
