Is Koke the new Xavi?
All the focus for the foreseeable future in Spain will be on the traditionally blustery rivalry between the world’s two most glamorous football clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid. But Real’s neighbours and second most intense rivlas, Atletico, have begun the season better than their more salubrious rivals, having beaten them at the Bernabeu, to rub salt into the wound created by last season’s Copa del Rey victory.
A lot of this has been built on the stylish midfield promptings of the young midfield player, Koke. The 21 year-old is just yet another exhibit off seemingly endless conveyor belt of Spanish talent, and one that has been compared to the incomparable Xavi.
If Spain fans were concerned about the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Alonso getting a little old in the tooth, then the new Spanish generation of midfield players such as Isco and Koke suggests that Spain may be a force to be reckoned with for some time.
