Liverpool v Everton – Match Preview and Betting Tip

Betting Tips | Article posted on May 1st, 2025

If trophies were handed out for being the most inconsistent team in the Premier League, then Liverpool would certainly be in the running. After a period of indifferent results which had apparently condemned them to a seventh place finish, few would have predicted that a Suarez bereft Liverpool would put six goals past a Newcastle team that had considerably more reason to be motivated.

It is this lack of consistency that Brendan Rodgers will need to address next season if Liverpool are to get anywhere near where they are expected to be. While there have been some promising signs at times this season for the Reds, good periods of form have been followed by some rather dismal performances, particularly away from home, something that any successful side simply cannot afford to do.

Having said that, Liverpool’s style and pattern of play is clearly greatly improved from Kenny Dalglish’s reign, and the performance of Philippe Coutinho was a particularly encouraging sign of a potentially bright future for the club. The potential of Raheem Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge playing together is an attractive one for Liverpool fans, albeit not one that they will experience until Suarez has served the remaining nine games of his ban.

Everton’s season, though they are only a handful of points ahead of their great rivals, will be viewed very differently by their supporters, owing to the monumental commercial differences between the two clubs. Sadly, the sixth place that Everton look likely to secure this season is the best that the club can realistically hope for (until Tottenham sell Gareth Bale). It is this which will see star midfielder Marouane Fellaini leave in the summer in search of Champions League football, and that ultimately David Moyes may follow him one day.

Liverpool are highly likely to be unchanged from their 6-0 win over Newcastle, and Everton are unlikely to make many changes from their 1-0 win over Fulham, as they seek a point at Anfield that would ensure they finish the season the top club on Merseyside.

Betting Prediction

Despite their excellent result last week, I think Liverpool will struggle to break down a committed, proficient team such as Everton without Luis Suarez. Everton know that a point will almost certainly secure them sixth place in the table, and I think they will secure the point that they need. Thus, I’m tipping this game to be a 1-1 draw, I also recommend the both teams to score and under 2.5 goals markets.

Final Scoreline Prediction:Liverpool 1-1 Everton

Other Recommended Bets: Under 2.5 Goals, Both Teams to Score.
