Manchester City v West Bromwich Albion – Match Preview and Betting Tip
Manchester City complete their Premier League home fixtures for the season when West Bromwich Albion are the visitors to the Etihad. The Albion have enjoyed an excellent first season under the stewardship of Steve Clarke, and can look forward to the future with optimism.
Usually a trip to the Etihad would be an extremely intimidating propositon, but City will have at least one eye on the FA Cup final, which takes place just a few days after this home fixture. Thus, we are likely to see numerous first-teamers rested for this one, and may see starts for the likes of Pantillimon, Richards, Kolarov, Kolo Toure, Sinclair and Dzeko. The strength of City’s squad ensures, though, that City will field a formidable team whichever players are fielded.
Thus, this match might have the typical air of an end of season encounter in which not a great deal is at stake. Albion have long since secured their Premier League status and don’t have the slightest chance of obtaining a European place, whereas City are already everything other than mathematically assured of finishing second in the league. Nonetheless, Roberto Mancini will want to absolutely ensure that City secure a second place finish, and will view this game as an opportunity to get over the line with regard to this.

Betting Prediction
I don’t see this being a particularly inspiring fixture given that neither side has a great deal to play for. It may also be a slightly disjointed display from City, given the fact that they are likely to field a weakened team ahead of the FA Cup final. Nonetheless, I think the superior quality that City have in their line-up will see them come out on top in this one, so I’m tipping the home side to secure a narrow one-nil victory in this one.
Final Scoreline Prediction:Manchester City 1 – 0 West Bromwich Albion
