Manchester Transfer Chaos
Having finished in the top two positions in the Premier League over the last two seasons, Manchester United and Manchester City will be expected to be the primary contenders for this seasons’s Premier League crown. Although, at present, most bookmakers actually have City, United and Chelsea tied as being equal favourites to win this season’s Premier League.
But the transfer dealings of the Mancunian giants has not gone according to plan over the summer period, despite City tying up some of their deals some weeks ago. The areas in which the two teams needed to strengthen was quite clear for anyone that watches Premier League football regularly; City needed new strikers and United needed to reinforce their midfield.
Yet, with less than a month to go to the big kick-off, neither team has managed to strengthen these key areas. City have been linked with many strikers, most notably Luis Suarez, Álvaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic and Edinson Cavani, yet they have failed to tie up a deal for anyone yet, while Carlos Tevez has left. United, meanwhile, haven’t made a single signing, and look to have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Barcelona’s Thiago.
Both clubs will hope to rectify the current malaise before the start of the season.
