Manchester United v Real Sociedad – Champions League Preview and Betting Tip
Introduction
David Moyes continues his embryonic oversight of Manchester United with a very winnable looking fixture at home to Real Sociedad. The visitors had an excellent season last term, but have struggled to match their form in the current campaign. In all honesty, Real Sociedad wouldn’t really expect to get too much out of this game, and a draw would be an excellent result.
Winner
Ironically, David Moyes’ best Manchester United performances have come in the Champions League so far. This is somewhat surprising considering one of the big question marks over the former Everton manager before he took the reins at Old Trafford was his lack of European experience. Moyes made some odd remarks earlier this season in which he stated that Manchester United don’t have the quality required to win the competition, not the sort of statement that one can imagine Sir Alex Ferguson making. Nonetheless, they should see off Sociedad easily enough here, and I expect them to ultimately top the group.
My tip: Manchester United

Correct Score
United’s defence has looked a little vulnerable at times this season, but I feel that David Moyes is likely to take a pretty tight approach to this match. I don’t think Sociedad have enough attacking power to break down a United side at their best, and I think United will keep a clean sheet, and win the game at something of a canter.
My tip: Manchester United 2 – 0 Real Sociedad

My tip: Under 2.5 goals

Winning Margin
My tip: Manchester United to win by 2 goals

First Goalscorer
I’m going to go against the grain for this market. Although Robin van Persie is always a likely scorer for United, and indeed is rated as the favourite for this market, Danny Welbeck has reserved his best performances for the Champions League, and I think he offers decent value in the first goalscorer market.
My tip: Danny Welbeck
