Milan v Roma – Match Preview and Dynamo Betting Tip
AC Milan's start to the season has been a long way short of what is expected of one of Europe's iconic football clubs. The Rossonieiri currently find themselves in the bottom half of Serie A, and clearly a considerable improvement is imperative, despite the fact that they've managed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. Roma, by contrast, have greatly exceeded expectation, and remain unbeaten in Serie A, with by far the best defensive record in the division.
However, despite the fact that both Milan's performances and results have been well below par, it is worth bearing in mind that they have actually gone six game unbeaten in an improved run of form. While Roma remain a tremendously tough team to beat and a very solid unit, they have actually had a moderate run in the league of late, with a win in their last fixture snapping a run of four consecutive draws which saw them lose their early lead in the Scudetto.
Thus, this is not as much of a cut and dried fixture as one might imagine. It may appear to be a top side travelling to strugglers, but the prestige and ambition of Milan will always ensure that such an assessment is inaccurate, while recent form suggests that there isn't as much between these two sides as their league positions suggest.
Roma have a strong midfield, and have been a tough nut to crack in Serie A this season, but they are not the most inspired side in front of goal, and a determined Milan in the always intimidating San Siro might have a chance of keeping them at bay. But whether Milan really have the quality to beat Roma, despite their improved form, is debatable. So I'm picking this one as draw, which I think offers excellent value with the bookmakers.
