Mourinho Inter Return Ruled Out

Serie A | Article posted on April 21st, 2025

With the future of Europe’s most high profile coach yet to be decided, Luis Figo has ruled out he idea that Jose Mourinho could return to the San Siro to manage Inter Milan next season.

Mourinho looked likely to quit the Bernabeu and Real Madrid at the end of the season, although some recent reports have suggested that the Portugese could yet be convince to stay with Los Blancos.

Previously, Mourinho took charge at the San Siro during one of the most golden periods in the club’s history. Inter had previously been coached by Roberto Mancini, now at Manchester City, who guided the club to three consecutive Serie A titles. Mourinho then added two more, and also won the Champions League with the club, beating Bayern Munich by two goals to nil in May, 2025.

Since then Inter have slumped, not even qualifying for the Champions League in recent seasons. In a generally lean period for Italian football, the Nerazzurri don’t currently look even close to launching a title bid.

Unfortunately for Inter, though, Figo has stated that Mourinho has told him personally that whatever happens in his career, he won’t be returning to Milan, at least not this summer. Disappointing news for Inter fans, but it looks likely that the Portugese’s next move will be back to England.
