QPR v Newcastle – Match Preview and Betting Tip
Everyone involved with Newcastle United will be extremely relieved that Wigan threw away a two goal to one cushion against Swansea, thus ensuring that Newcastle aren’t in the bottom three going into this critical fixture with QPR. Common sense would dictate that the Geordies need three points from this one before their final game of the season against Arsenal, even though it is possible that three scenarious could save them in that game. Firstly, Wigan may not get the win they need to overtake Newcastle anyway, thus ensuring the Magpies safety. Secondly, the St. James’ Park crowd are always capable of lifting their team, and it can’t be marked down as a certain win for the Gunners by any means. Thirdly, it is possible that Arsenal could have secured Champions League football by then anyway, which is a scenario that Newcastle fans will be praying for.
Nonetheless, Newcastle do not want to be relying on pulling off an unlikely win over Arsenal to secure safety, and would thus breathe a lot easier if they could pick up a much needed three points here. Frankly, they couldn’t have asked for a better opponent to be facing than a QPR side who are already relegated, and for whom several of their players will already have earmarked a move away from Loftus Road at the end of the season.
It has been a dismal season for Rangers indeed, and one that the club may very well regret for a very long time. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that the club could gain instant promotion back to the Premier League, but with a huge rebuilding job ahead of Harry Redknapp, the odds are most definitely against it. A club that is being bankrolled to the extent that QPR are, though, is not too likely to be down in the doldrums indefinitely.
Despite some very disappointing results of late, Newcastle are likely to select many of the French players that they purchased in January, along with the established backbone of their side over the last couple of seasons. QPR performed well in losing 1-0 at home to Arsenal last time out, and may be unchanged.

Betting Prediction
I was impressed by QPR’s spirit and performance when they played Arsenal, a match in which the home side could have earned a merited draw, and I think they will do okay against a Newcastle side lacking in form and confidence. I’m tipping a 1-1 draw at Loftus Road.
Final Scoreline Prediction:Queen’s Park Rangers 1 – 1 Newcastle United
Other Recommended Bets: Under 2.5 Goals, Both Teams to Score.
