Introduction

In most seasons, this fixture between Real Madrid and Juventus would be a worthy one for the knockout stages, but due to the relatively poor form of Italian clubs in Europe in recent seasons, this time they will clash in a group stage double header. Juve looked to be the team who were most likely among Italian ones to go a long way in this season’s competition, but whether they have the quality to trouble a phenomenally powerful Real Madrid squad remains to be seen.

Winner

Real are strong odds on favourites to win this match, and it is hard to disagree with this verdict given the simply awesome attack that they are able to field. A possible crumb of comfort going into this fixture for Juve, though, is that the home side’s defence has been somewhat leaky this season, looking far from secure on many occasions. It is possible that Tevez et al could take advantage of this deficiency, but overall I still think Real will win, as they usually do at home.

I think that both teams will score in this match, Real are, of course, almost certainties to do so. Juventus could cause Real a few shaky moments as well, though, and I feel Real Madrid are unlikely to keep a clean sheet. I think they’ll secure a narrow victory, though.

First Goalscorer

Every time Cristiano Ronaldo takes to the field it is hard to bet against him scoring the first goal, and consequently he is the overwhelming favourite for this market. There are other viable options as well, though, with Carlos Tevez a prolific scorer for Juve, Karim Benzema due a goal, Isco in excellent form this season, and Gareth Bale possibly making a return for this fixture. Don’t bet against Ronaldo, though.
