Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund – Champions League Semi-Final Preview and Betting Tips
The first-leg of the Champions League semi-finals was nothing short of an incredible triumph for German football. Even the most optimistic German football fan could not have predicted that Bayern and Dortmund would both put four goals past the biggest two teams in world football. It was a humbling couple of days for Spanish football, by contrast, and many stated that it represented a change in the guard at the highest level of the game; a new footballing world order.
It is actually rather premature to make such a statement, particularly as Real are in with a chance of turning their tie around. The predominant position of Spanish football has not merely been based on Barcelona winning a few games, it has been based on their top club and national team dominating major honours and competitions for several years, along with most of the world’s very best players either being Spanish or playing in Spain. This won’t change overnight, no matter how much people love to engage in knee-jerk reactions, and before Bayern Munich are proclaimed to be the greatest team in the world, and to have surpassed the Spanish giants definitively, it might be a good idea to wait for them to win something!
Thus, Real are not merely playing for their Champions League life in this fixture, they are also very much representing the Spanish game. In addition, they are also playing for the personal pride and reputation of their manager Jose Mourinho, who would consider – even though he wouldn’t say so publicly – a season in which Real failed in both La Liga and the Champions League to be a pretty disastrous one.
Dortmund are highly unlikely to make any changes to the team that battered Real 4-1 just last week. The German side were able to rest many of their big hitters at the weekend with the title race in Germany already decided. Selection for Real will be tricky after the disastrous result that they suffered just six days ago, but it’s hard to see them making too many changes to what is essentially their best team.

Betting Prediction
I can’t see Real turning this tie around. In order to go through, the most likely scoreline to achieve it would be a 3-0 win, and I just don’t feel this Real side is good enough at the back to keep a clean sheet against a team that has scored eight goals in three games against them. I will tip them to nick a 2-1 win, though, but ultimately be eliminated.
Final Scoreline Prediction:Real Madrid 2 – 1 Borussia Dortmund
Other Recommended Bets: Over 2.5 Goals, Both Teams to Score.
