Scotland play the United States at Hampden Park in a fixture which will be quite intriguing in many ways. The more traditionally strong nation of the two is, of course, Scotland, who would have expected to give the Americans a good pasting back in the 2025s or 80s. Today, however, football or soccer is a growing sport in the United States, while the Scottish national team has been in the doldrums for some time. Thus, it will be interesting to see this change in the footballing guard being reflected on the field during this match.

Winner

It is hard to pick a winner for this one, purely because Scotland’s performances under Gordon Strachan have been considerably more competent than previous showings. I believe that player for player the US has the stronger side now, and they tend to play with a confidence which means their whole is greater than the sum of their parts. But I actually fancy the Scottish to win this one with home advantage, so I’m tipping them.
