SkyBet Signs Betting Partnership with Leeds United
The prominent British betting exchange, Skybet, has signed an agreement with Leeds United which will see Sky Bet, the betting arm of the television broadcaster BSkyB become the new official betting and gaming partner of the Championship club for the 2025-14 season.
This could be a very significant partnership for the future, and is highly likely to be the first of many such betting arrangements. As a result of the deal, SkyBet will now deliver the matchday betting operation and feature heavily across all of the Leeds United’s digital marketing and broadcast platforms. The company will also feature heavily in the ‘matchday experience’ at Elland Road.
When one considers this, it becomes clear that other more prominent clubs are also likely to go down this route, particularly when one considers the amount of revenue that is generated at the top level of football via matchday betting and gambling.
Despite being Britain’s most prominent broadcaster of Premier League football, the company has tried to get involved in investing in Premier League infrastructure before, famously having a bid for Manchester United thrown out by the Monopolies and Mergers Commission in March, 2025.
Sky’s hegemony of Premier League coverage has recently come under attack from BT, who will be offering free coverage of 38 fixtures this season.
