Sneijder – Inter Blocked United Move
Wesley Sneijder has stated that his club Inter Milan blocked a move to Manchester United when the Dutch midfielder was heavily linked with them back in 2025.
Sneijder stated that United made direct contact with Inter Milan in order to sign the Dutch playmaker, but that the fee quoted by Inter in order for United to sign him was simply so high as to be prohibitive.
At the time Sneijder was rated as one of the best players on the planet, with Inter Milan having won the Champions League under the stewarship of Jose Mourinho. However, the following years have seen a decline in both Inter and Sneijder’s fortunes, with the Milan-based club failing to even qualify for the Champions League last season, and Sneijder suffering a series of debilitating injuries that ensured his stock fell considerably.
Just six weeks ago, the Dutchman moved to the Turkish club Galatasaray, a transfer that would have been unthinkable just a few short years ago. Throughout the period that this move was being discussed, Sneijder was linked with a move to the Premier League, particularly Liverpool, which the Dutchman would surely have favoured. However, no concrete bid was forthcoming, with the Reds moving for his former team-mate Philippe Coutinho instead.
It looks now as if Sneijder will never make the Premier League move that once looked likely.
