Stevenage v Everton: Martinez to keep up his quest for FA Cup history
“Six of Everton's last seven matches on the road have gone under 2.5 goals and the one that went over only finished 2-1 with three relatively late goals.”

It’s Fourth Round FA Cup action this weekend and Paul Robinson has taken a closer look at the tie between Stevenage and Everton to see if there’s a potential upset in store.

Stevenage made it through to this round of the competition thanks to a 3-2 victory at Doncaster in what must be considered a bit of a shock result. The League One outfit are rock bottom of the division having lost 16 of their 26 league games this season and while they are only four points adrift of safety, it’s going to take a huge effort for them to survive.
Manager Graham Westley will no doubt be hoping that a cup run will help lift his players to perform better in the league but they were beaten by Oldham following the Doncaster win, and although they beat Swindon after that, it was back to their old ways with another defeat at home to Notts County last Saturday.
Despite that County reverse, the Boro do have a fairly decent record at Broadhall Way as they’ve won seven of their last 11 there in all competitions, conceding two goals or more on only three occasions during that period.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez lifted the FA Cup with Wigan last year and he’ll be looking to make history by becoming the first manager ever to win it two years in a row with two different clubs.
The Toffees have enjoyed a fine campaign thus far and while they were a little lacklustre in the 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns on Monday, West Brom had Pepe Mel in charge for the first time and that often lifts players and fans alike.
In the last round they comfortably saw off QPR by four goals to nil as Jelavic hit a brace and Barkley and Coleman also netted. Rangers didn’t turn up that day though and Everton are much stronger at home than they are away, so I wouldn’t be overly confident in a similar margin of victory this evening.

Anyone who has listened to Roberto Martinez in the build up to this game will be slightly surprised by these odds as the Spaniard said that Stevenage were the favourites.
Whether he’s playing mind games or basing it on the fact that his team needed extra time to beat them in the Capital One Cup at Goodison back in August, who knows, but whichever, the prices look about right to me.
